For those of us in the mobile health world, it would be hard not to laugh at this Saturday Night Live skit skewering the iPhone 5 launch and those who have criticized it.
My favorite moment, which takes place as a conversation between a bunch of techno-geek journalists and the Chinese factory workers who made the new phone, occurs when the factory workers try to think of something Americans made so they have a chance to criticize in return; all they can think of that Americans manufacture is….diabetes. It would be hilarious if it weren’t so close to the truth.

Excruciatingly funny but most unfair as Americans have a whole suite of co-morbidity products; diabetes, kidney disease, heart attacks, Calciphylaxis, Osteoporosis and stroke are just a few. They are all being exported in the spirit of free trade.
Thank you Lisa, I needed a laugh today.
Dear Lisa,
After reading and sharing your latest article, I though it more on key to change the title from “Medical Comedy Relief to the following: “If you sneeze, get your iPhone away from your face!”
Forgive this somewhat funny title that is related to your excellent article from June 8, 2011. Cell phones contain lots of little surprises inside! Those invisible germs and bacteria. And that in itself is serious enough for you to have mentioned it in your writing.
Lisa by the way, have you noticed that all the studies that talk about this way too serious public health problem are always based on the use of Cell Phones? It must be that no one has thought about all the public telephones that are shared by so many people. They are clearly much more contaminated.than those private in my pocket cell phones And really there are more than 4,500 million public phones shared worldwide. These phones are the real culprits of disease. The big problem is that users change continuously. And each talker generously shares his saliva and skin residue, always fully loaded with bacteria, fungi and germs, into the inside of the phone. Areas that are unreachable.
The problem has been solved and we did it effectively. We are starting to vaccinate all phones in the world that must be shared.,.Thats right! To make them germproof. Starting with those installed in airports, transport stations, lobby hotels, call centers … Our phone guards are simply placed on the microphone and earpiece.Thats it! They are as protective as the mask of a surgeon in an operating room. In addition, our protectors are not dependent on phone users buying them as they are free.
